If you are looking for somewhere to spend a week or two on Holiday, reviews and feedback from previous guests are always a good read.
Below is the Porthcothan Barn Guestbook for you to have look through BEFORE you decide on where to stay.
Not every guest leaves an entry but those that do are here to see.
Some guests leave their review in other places such as Facebook or Google so I copy them from everywhere, add them to this page and mark the source as below –
Note – It’s possible that “anyone” could make an entry in this guestbook so I check everyone entered to make sure only real guests (and not spammers) complete the form 🙂

Our third visit… it’s just like going home. It’s a beautiful location just to sit and be… so close to a gorgeous beach. Paul, as always, was fantastic and everything ran so smoothly. I would highly recommend it… except it may get over booked and I may miss out (teasing).

We had a brilliant holiday at the Barn. It worked well for us with 3 small children as it was only a short walk to the beach. The view from the garden was fantastic and we enjoyed many meals outside. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed. While there, we went to Watergate Bay and had a lovely meal at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen. We also all enjoyed some excellent fish and chips in Padstow at Rick Stein’s and used the farm shop near Padstow for some lovely bread. We will definitely be back.

The barn is in such a beautiful location and offers a very spacious and comfortable accommodation. The beds were a little bit too comfy as it was hard to get the teenagers up. We were lucky to have sunshine every day and the garden area was lovely to sit in, particularly with those sea views and stunning sunsets.
We researched the area before we booked to try and get somewhere that was near to the beach and the coastal path which allowed us to leave the car. It was lovely to be only a few minutes away. We would definitely come back again and we are happy to recommend to our friends and family.

A perfect place for our holidays, the barn is a comfortable relaxing holiday home from home for us all to chill out. We enjoyed long walks along the cliffs and hours running on the beach and swimming in the sea. The local pasties from the beach shop are highly recommended.
A great time was had by all including our owners Steve& Matun.
Can’t wait to come back.

My family and I just experienced the most life giving seven days we believe we have ever experienced at The Barn at Porthcothan Bay. The land was as beautiful as the cinematography depicts it in the television series Poldark, and The Barn gave us a wonderful view of it all and with easy access.
The Barn itself was spacious and comfortable. The beds and soft linens pulled us in and felt luxurious, which made us want to lie in them all day, but breakfast on the gorgeous back porch lured us happily out of bed every morning. We played games in the family room in the evenings, and put together a puzzle of Padstow on the dining table.
I used the French press kettle at The Barn to make some of the best coffee I have tasted. The Barn seems to take you into the spirit of Cornwall itself. There is a wonderful little tea cafe and pub close by, and from the doorstep we were on the beach in less than 10 min.
I loved walking along the cliff ridge and seeing the sun set over the blue water, and we loved watching the tide come in and out of the coves. My family and I have traveled all over Europe and England, and we have all agreed that as soon as possible, we want to come back to The Barn at Porthcothan Bay and bring our friends with us. If you are looking for a life giving escape, The Barn is simply transformative.

We had a fabulous week in May at the Barn. Plenty of space and it was very comfortable. We loved the view from the outdoor terrace and ate outside most of the time. We were two families with 5 children in total and it really didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. The weather was good most of the time so we were lucky but it is only a short drive to Padstow or Newquay if it is wet.
Porthcothan is a gorgeous beach with so much room and so unspoilt. Berryfields across the valley does the most amazing cream tea and milkshakes if you get peckish.
We will definitely be coming back again!

The four of us and our dog had a great time and the location made it excellent for the boys surfing at Mawgan Porth and exploring the coastal paths. The Barn is wonderfully laid out with all the comforts we could possibly need. The views are stunning and the quiet location made for a very relaxing stay.

We had a lovely week at the cottage – it is perfectly situated and very comfortable.
The field next to the barn was great for the dogs to run in and the bay was a brilliant playground for them.
I’d highly recommend the shop (Porthcothan Bay Stores) on the way to the beach. Stocked with all the necessities and they do great cakes, coffee and ice cream.

I thought The Barn was a fantastic place to stay. It balances a homely feel with high standards. The views and proximity to the beach were fabulous and we all had an amazing time. The sad thing was that we only had two nights – oh well we will have to book for longer next time.
